And just like that, we’ve grown again. This past month, our very own Krishna Mullapudi went from Software Engineer Intern to Software Engineer! Krishna is not completely new to our team, as we’ve had the pleasure of working with him this past summer. As his role evolves on the Buckeye Interactive team, we want to give you a glimpse into the awesome person we get to interact with every day! Enjoy!
Tell me about yourself, Krishna! Where are you from?
Where did you go to school?
How did you get into software engineering?
Growing up, I loved computers. My dad was a Software Engineer and my sister has a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. So as you can probably imagine I was heavily intrigued with technology and building applications. During my last year of undergrad, I started learning Java. I figured it would give me a competitive advantage when interviewing with potential employers. I liked it so much, next thing I knew I was getting my Master’s in Computer Science instead!
What is your favorite computer language? Why?
Well for me, Java is my favorite programming language. I learned it first. So naturally, I think that’s why it’s my favorite. I’ve heard many reasons as to why Java is the best computer language. But I think the following quote sums it up the best. Java is “Strongly typed, beautifully designed, has nearly every major language feature you could ever want, great frameworks, cross platform, fast, and can be used for damn near anything.” Not to mention that as of 2019, Java is one of the most popular programming languages in use. #TeamJava
Do you have a code of ethics you abide by in engineering?
Yes I do. I firmly believe in writing clean code. It’s important to choose your variable names carefully. I also believe in formatting and documenting the code. I would say that’s my code of ethics that I live by as a software engineer.
How do our core values (collaboration, initiative, ingenuity) align with your own?
I would say the value that aligns most with my own is initiative. I feel in my line of work as a software engineer, there is always a new challenge. Every day I come across something new. Each time a support ticket comes in, it provides me with the opportunity to dig deeper and learn about new information. I dig into the problem and into the code. Then I find the root cause of the problem and find the solution.
What do you want to learn in the next 12 months as a software engineer or in our industry?
What is your favorite food?
Chicken Dum Biryani, hands down. If you’ve never tried it, do yourself a favor and put it on your to-do list. It’s such a flavorful dish.
What’s your dream travel destination? Or your favorite road trip.
I would say Florida! It’s a nice change. Who wouldn’t want to be on a beach in sunny weather?
