5 Truly Awesome Copywriting Blogs

There are thousands of blogs about thousands of different topics all over the internet. All you have to do is a Google search and you’ll find what you’re looking for. Right?

Wrong.

Finding blogs about your niche is easy, but finding blogs that are consistently worth reading is not. Copywriters, I’ve done the hard work for you. After reading and skimming through several blogs that promised “the best copywriting tips” and swore they would turn me into a “copywriting genius,” I narrowed down the list of blogs I actually pay attention to and came up with these five.

The Good Stuff

copyblogger

This blog has everything any copywriter will ever need (at least to my knowledge so far). Ebooks, seminars, webinars, and daily blog posts all focused on copywriting lessons and skills. All you have to do is sign up to be a member for free and you get access to them all. I even signed up for the email list- that’s how you know it’s good- and have been keeping tabs on how significant their blog posts are to my interests.

Let me just say, if you aren’t receiving an email from this website every day, you’re missing out.

HubSpot

Although Hubspot’s blog isn’t geared directly toward copywriting or content, it shows awesome copywriting skills. The blog itself is an excellent example of how a blog should be managed, handled, and written.

What I love about Hubspot is that the blog post headlines always grab my attention. My general reaction is to instantly read the article, or to bookmark it so I can read it in the near future. Being the grammar critic that I am, of course I had to read 14 of the Worst Typos We’ve Ever Seen. Then as I saw this post, Reality Check: 40% of Your Article Goes Right Down the Drain, I had to find out why my hard work was going to waste.

Of course you should read the HubSpot blog, but you should also pay attention to the way the blog is handled.

Content Marketing Institute

Content Marketing isn’t easy, but Content Marketing Institute has perfected it. On top of marketing its own content, the website has branded itself as a learning center. Instead of sharing the basic tips and tricks of content marketing, they get down to the nitty gritty details of specific questions and problems.

For any specific content marketing questions, check this blog first.

ABC Copywriting

I knew I was going to love this blog as soon as I set my eyes upon the home page (see below).

ABC Copywriting covers a wide range of writing topics. From 20 Business Metaphors and What They Mean to An Honest Look at Content Marketing. There are also quite a few posts describing what a copywriter is and what a copywriter is supposed to do, which may sound like common sense to us copywriters, but not for someone looking to hire us. ABC offers services and uses its blog to show just how well they can carry them out.

The Sales Blog

Sales blog? Is this in the right place?

Yes.

Copywriting is not only about writing and sharing information, but also about selling products and services. Even if you aren’t writing to sell for a profession, you’re always writing to sell yourself.

I’ve included The Sales Blog as one of my top copywriting blogs because it teaches me how to better sell myself and my skills. What are we writing for, if not to sell an idea, or a skill, or ourselves, or a tangible product? The author of The Sales Blog, S. Anthony Iannarino, travels the world to teach others about his own skills and offers a free day-to-day archive of his blog for the past three years.

If that’s not something worth absorbing and applying to my own skill set, I’m not sure what is.
